BLACK BRIDGE KNIFE
Introduced in November of 2009, the Black Bridge Knife combines Ruana Knife making with a nearby landmark in the Bonner, Montana area and the use of recycled materials. We originally referred to it as the Black Bridge Green Kitchen Knife, but for simplicity are now just calling it the Black Bridge Knife. Blade and Handle Specs:

-The 6 3/4” hammer forged blade is hand made from 1/8” high carbon steel. It would make an excellent all purpose kitchen knife but will require some special care (see note below).
-The 5” handle is created from durable, recycled Brazilian ironwood that was part of the Black Bridge restoration project near the Ruana Knife Works, Inc. shop. It is secured with epoxy glue and two brass rivets.
-Each knife will come with a leather slip sheath in the photo below to cover the blade for safety.
Blade Engraving Option:

-The proximity of the Black Bridge to the Ruana Knife Works shop combined with scrap materials used for its construction and recycled for the knife handle create a unique and collectible knife. Brad Miller of HDR One Company in Missoula, Montana has kindly granted us permission to engrave the engineering Black Bridge image on the knife blade adding the final touch to this special knife. The extra cost for the Black Bridge laser engraved is $30 extra.

Handle Engraving Option:

-You can add sentimental value and heirloom quality to your Black Bridge knife by laser engraving a short message (up to 3 lines) in your knife’s handle, for an extra $30.
Special Care Note for Black Bridge Knife:

-Many customers will purchase this knife as a collector’s item but it is designed for kitchen use. The high carbon steel blade is extremely sharp and holds a good edge but it is not stainless. The knife requires hand washing and should not be put in a dishwasher. Additionally, the wood handle may dry out a little over time and turn slightly gray in color but it can easily be restored with mineral oil.
